Let me think about the time situation started to get worse. Well, Shulli and I was talking about our vacation plans few weeks ago. Then Minha suggested going on a trip on our own. We had some problems talking to our parents permission, but it turned out to be fine. So, we packed and getting things and hopped on to a bus heading to Sulak mountain. Not any special reason for the choice. It's just that we thought beach would be too crowded.
When we first arrived there, we stayed in the hotel for a day since when we arrived, the sun was already going down. Shulli's bag was full of food and Minha was to pack flash lights and some medicine. I packed some clothes just in case the temperature goes too low. When we were done, we just talked a little. We slept at like two or so.
I woke up as soon as the alarm clock hit six. We took turns using the bathroom taking shower and had some breads for breakfast. Now, we were ready.
The entrance of the climbing path wasn't as crowded. I guess it was not a really good idea to climb up a mountain sweating allover. Still, I thought it was better than going to beach being squashed by people.
Except the part about sweating, the climbing turned out to be really fine. On the way, we saw some squirrels or birds that is rarely seen in the cities. The air was fresh and the breeze was cool. We were kind of wondering off from the path too much, but I didn't really think it would be a big problem, since the sun was still shining. It took pretty long for us to get to the top. But the view was pretty and weather was so good. I thought it was worth it. Shulli unpacked some food from her bag and after hours of mountain climbing, even water tasted good. We finished off almost all the food, and got ready to leave.
Coming down was not as easy as we thought. Minha tripped over a rock, Shulli spilled her bag and I got my hair tangled in the bush. One thing we were forgetting here was that the sun goes down so much faster in mountains. It wouldn't matter if we were on the right path, but no one would even recognize a signal, which is why we were so lost. Now, I wasn't even sure that I was in the right path.
We chose to move around rather than just stand there with lack of food to eat. But there was one thing we were missing at that point. In the nigh forest, no matter where you started walking, you can never find the way back. That's when I started realizing what my father said really meant.
'Every tree looks the same in the dark.'
And yes, he was absolutely right. Now I can't even remember which way I came from. Minha was getting really impatient. Her steps were getting faster and faster. Minha has her level of annoyance. First, she starts get really quite. Second, she walks faster leaving everyone behind. Third, whoosh. She's gone. And we were experiencing her third level of annoyance. She was the only one who had lights, and she's gone now. Guess it's on with Shulli and I....?
Oh, great. This can't even get any better. I thought she was just next to me and now she has gone. With her backpack holding the food. All I've got was a fat bag full of useless clothes. It was getting a little cold, but I could manage it. So I just sat there, not keeping track of time since my phone died ages ago.
That, is when I heard a soft whistling from a bush nearby. At first, I was thinking I heard it wrong. But passing about thirty seconds, another movement and that was it. I was getting a little horrified. I'll count until sixty, and then I'll run.
1.....2....3...
And I heard another sound, which made me run. After about ten minutes, I started realizing that I've left my phone in my bag, which I left it near the bush. Well, first of all, I have absolutely no thought of going back. Second, even if I had a thought, there is no way I would be able to trace back to that place. So I was sitting on the ground, leaning to the tree. When suddenly, something hit my head really hard.

ReplyDeleteYou have well portrayed what would happen if you and your friends were lost in the mountains. Great job on depicting the ambiance of being lost in nowhere. :) However, your story has some notable grammar mistakes, especially the usage of present tense and past tense.
