Should we?

Dear Headmaster

I am sending you this letter to suggest that you change a rule. Students are not allowed to use cellphones after dinner. It's not only that we can't use our phone, but they are also taken to the PAs. I think it is a great idea to turn in our phones but I wish that you would consider to delay the time a little. I know that you take our phones at dinner time because it may disturb us from studying during the study periods, but we need our phone in studying period.

First, we need to research for out homework. For the computer room, the amount of people who can use it are limited and there are quite a lot of kids who don't have a net-book. So every time I need to look something up or make a document, I have to wait until second self study and borrow a net-book from other people, which I feel really sorry for doing.

Secondly, I need to contact kids for our group projects. We do Mock trial every week, we have to talk a lot and arrange our ideas, and we don't always have enough  time in the second studying time. Also, even if we try to do it during dinnertime, we are not allowed in the boy's floor, so if we have our phones with us, it would be really convenient for our group project.

Lastly, we could grow our self-control more. If PAs take our phones too early, we get this feeling that now we 'really' want to play with our phones since it's not allowed. But if you let us control this for ourselves for two hours, it would be better. It is said that self control is a way to develop oneself. Controlling oneself helps them to know what their mistake was and fix it next time. So I think you should at least give us a chance to test ourselves. If it doesn't work, then we should hand in our phone for sure.

I would really appreciate you to have a little think about my idea.

Sincerely,
TORY

  1. This is a good start but you should have more research to support your reasons. Try to find experts who agree with your point of view.
